WEEKLY SOCCER THOUGHTS: Arsenal Drop Another Cup Match, United March Further Ahead, & More
With an action packed soccer weekend in the books, there’s alot to talk about. Arsenal, once again have dropped another cup match, this time to Birmingham who won their first title in almost 50 years. Many fingers can be pointed, especially at the Arsenal defense who dropped the game winning point in the last 10 minutes, however some may make the same excuse that the club’s manager made… the team is thinking about moving ahead of Manchester United in the league, as well as their second leg of their champions league draw with Barcelona. Regardless, their heads were not in the right place and the Londoners will have to see if they can claim the FA Cup, league cup, and Champions league which they are still competing in.

Another from Hernandez, an easy shot from Wayne Rooney, and a final tight goal for Fabio gave the reds 3 more points on top of the Premier League. United now looks ahead to a Tuesday match with Chelsea who they haven’t played this year. Despite the fact that the blues are on a slump this year, they are currently coming off a big Champions League win over Copenhagen.

In orlando this past weekend, 3 MLS teams and 1 USL team competed in the Wide World of Sports Classic. The small tournament saw MLS cup runners up FC Dallas take on Orlando (USL) in the first game, and then Toronto and Houston in the second. The finals were played between heated rivals Dallas and Toronto in which Dallas came away victorious. Despite the fact that the games were only pre-season matches, Dallas’ depth and prowess was highlighted as many young players showed off their talents, as well as notable players David Feirerra, and Brek Shea played alot of minutes.
